Self-awareness
Notice the inner dialogue, habits and automatic reactions that influence decisions before choosing a more useful response.
Mind & Body for teams and organisations
A clear, practical approach to self-awareness, communication and resilience—shaped by more than 40 years in martial arts and a working life spent teaching people.
Feed your mind. Protect your body.
Martial arts has taught me that understanding an idea is not the same as being able to use it. We learn through attention, repetition, feedback and honest reflection.
Mind & Body brings that approach into the workplace. The session connects what happens inside us—our attention, inner dialogue and choices—with how we communicate and act around other people.
This is not a martial arts class in office clothes, and nobody is expected to fight. Physical elements are simple, safe and purposeful, and are only included when the chosen format and venue make them appropriate.
The working themes
The emphasis is agreed with the host before the event. These themes provide a practical framework—not a promise that one workshop will solve every challenge.
Notice the inner dialogue, habits and automatic reactions that influence decisions before choosing a more useful response.
Explore how attention, clarity, assumptions and feedback shape the way people understand and support one another.
Practise staying present under pressure, adapting when something changes and returning attention to what can be influenced.
Choose the right format
Each format is adapted to the audience and the host's priorities. The difference is how much time we have to reflect, discuss and put the ideas into practice.
Focused introduction
For conferences, leadership days and larger groups
A concise presentation that connects lessons from martial arts, coaching and four decades of teaching with a challenge that matters to your audience.
Most versatile
For teams that want reflection, discussion and participation
A more involving session where short presentations are combined with individual reflection, paired exercises and practical team activities.
Deeper experience
For teams that want time to explore both reflection and action
A tailored day that moves between presentation, conversation, individual work and safe physical exercises. The schedule is designed with the host and the venue.
How it works
Send the date, location, group size and what prompted you to consider a workshop.
A 30-minute video call helps us choose the right format, level of participation and practical requirements.
I adapt examples and activities to the agreed context while keeping the core approach clear and grounded.
Why Richard Haye?
I began martial arts in 1984 and have spent my adult life learning how people respond to pressure, uncertainty, repetition and feedback. Since 2007, I have worked full-time as an instructor and academy owner.
My approach also draws on formal study in individual and team coaching at the University of Agder, performance coaching, and years spent building a professional martial arts centre with a diverse team and around 400 members.
I do not arrive with the assumption that every workplace has the same problem. I listen first, teach clearly and use practical experience to make complex ideas easier to work with.
